Vision

Whenever someone thinks about their future many things come to mind. For example a great education, economic stability and of course a career that will help ensure security. A career that I am considering is Anthropology. This would be a career that is exciting and thought provoking. The reason would be because you are provided with a window into another culture's lifestyle. It is appealing to me because I have always been curious and fascinated by the cultures that I am not apart of and/or have no knowledge about. A person gets to see aspects about a group that may be completely different from the ones they were raised with. Also I feel like meeting new people could sometimes be interesting. It is amazing to me how two cultures may seem completely unrelated and different from each other yet have some similarities that are not completely alien to one another.
What I hope to accomplish right now is to graduate high school and go into a  university that offers a solid anthropology program. Although the details are not entirely clear I have an idea about what I would like to do with my life and career.

12-year old self

Dear 12- year old April,

You are most likely right now trying to assert yourself. I warn you that things at this point are going to be difficult and unkind. During middle school everyone to some extent is trying to figure themselves out. Everyone is not completely sure on who they want to be so they adopt different personality traits that are often cruel when you look back at them. Those who are deemed outsiders or different from themselves are the usual targets for physical and/or emotional pain . Be careful in the way you carry yourself. I can assure you that things will get BETTER. ( You meet one of your best friends in the 6th grade, Courtney. So there is light in this suckish part of your existence.) I encourage you to try and find activities that are not only about reading. Although things right now aren't the best, everything will work out. Overall just do you and keep a positive mindset because things end just as quickly as they begin ( from an optimistic point of view) !

P.S:  Your character development is still in progress, so far so good.

Sincerely, a better version of yourself

My point of view.

One aspect that a person would not be able to see just by looking at me would be that I love reading. In other words literature and I are one. During my free time you would most likely find me  immersed in a book and in the other hand find a cup of coffee ( hot or iced depending on the day). Reading may be perceived by others as boring and also as a burden. But to me it is fascinating to be involved in a text and become caught up in a different reality.
I have a wide range of genre preferences. I don't like to exclude and not pick up a book just because it looks unfamiliar or is out of the range of my previous preferences. Sometimes when I read I feel as if I have entered a personal bubble. The outside world for the time being is no longer my concern. Occasionally I come across books that truly have a potent effect on me and it makes me question my environment. It offers a different insight on a certain matter and although sometimes it is depressing to realize that there is much injustice in this world, things could always get better with the use of a strong mind set and the ability to strive for change.
