12-year old self
Dear 12- year old April,
You are most likely right now trying to assert yourself. I warn you that things at this point are going to be difficult and unkind. During middle school everyone to some extent is trying to figure themselves out. Everyone is not completely sure on who they want to be so they adopt different personality traits that are often cruel when you look back at them. Those who are deemed outsiders or different from themselves are the usual targets for physical and/or emotional pain . Be careful in the way you carry yourself. I can assure you that things will get BETTER. ( You meet one of your best friends in the 6th grade, Courtney. So there is light in this suckish part of your existence.) I encourage you to try and find activities that are not only about reading. Although things right now aren't the best, everything will work out. Overall just do you and keep a positive mindset because things end just as quickly as they begin ( from an optimistic point of view) !
P.S: Your character development is still in progress, so far so good.
Sincerely, a better version of yourself

Its hard to believe how true this is! When I was younger I was an outsider which is hard to believe for some people because im so social and outgoing. I guess I changed because I moved a lot as a kid and thought it was time for change. Keep on building yourself and I also found my bestfriend in 6th grade and we are still friends. I liked reading your response.
